As part of the communities efforts to support the arts and up and coming artists, the area's 5 area galleries open their doors for "Art in Columbus Park", taking place every third Friday of the month from April- October. Since the grand opening of Blau Space in May of 2010, the gallery has hosted 7 artist's and contributed to the viewing and purchasing of a number of pieces in all varieties. It is
our goal as a gallery to provide support and showing oppertunities to a wide range of medias, talent and experience as well as promote art awareness throughout the Kansas City's cummunity. Blau Space, built in 1890, is a modern building outfitted with exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood flooring, and an origional tin ceiling, providing a unique backdrop for all catagories of art media. The shotgun layout sets up a clear traffic flow from the front gallery space to the back, with a small gathering space in the center. Gallery features include, directional spot lights as well as natural lighting, display boxes if desired, restroom, full kitchenette, and street signage.
