1855 Harris-Kearney House Museum and Westport Historical Society We are a house museum, and the oldest remaining residence in Kansas City. We are owned and operated by the Westport Historical Society. Seniors--$6.00.

Located at 4000 Baltimore, in Kansas City, MO, the 1855 Harris-Kearney House is the oldest remaining residence in Kansas City. The house was built by the Harris family in 1855, and is now a museum owned and operated by the Westport Historical Society (WHS). The WHS was founded in 1956 to promote, preserve, and foster public interest in the significant history of Westport, Missouri, the Town of Kan

sas, and Missouri, as well as their founders. The 1855 Harris-Kearney House Museum is closed for through 2023 season, and normal businesses hours will resume in 2024, date to be announced later. We are closed for renovations and to work at "rebranding" the museum, the Westport Historical Society, and all we hope to offer next year. 2023 Admission: Adults--$8.00. Students--$6.00. Children under 6 are free. Active Military--Free. Retired Military--Half Price. Group tours--$6.00 for 10 or more persons. Special events and exhibits will have an additional fee.

Our Story

The 1855 Harris-Kearney House located at 4000 Baltimore, in Kansas City, Missouri, is the oldest remaining residence in Kansas City. Colonel John and Henrietta Harris’ house, built in 1855, is now a museum owned and operated by the Westport Historical Society (WHS), a tax-deductible 501(c)(3), Not-for-Profit Organization. The WHS was founded in 1956 to promote, preserve, and foster public interest in the significant history and founders of West Port, Missouri, the Town of Kansas, and early Kansas City. The 1855 Harris-Kearney House Museum reopens June 5, 2020. Group tours can be scheduled anytime. For more information, visit www.westporthistorical.com.
