Congratulations to the 2026 Regional Leadership Award honorees!

We recognized them for their outstanding contributions to the Kansas City region this afternoon at our annual Regional Assembly.

We also honored Marge Vogt with a MARC Distinguished Board Service Award.

They were never short on talent. They were overlooked for far too long. The Negro Leagues had showcased some of baseball’s greatest players and most competitive eras, with legends like Satchel Paige and Josh Gibson leaving a lasting mark on the sport.

Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby had carried that legacy into Major League Baseball when they broke the color barrier in 1947, opening doors for generations of players. Rube Foster’s vision had helped build the foundation that made it all possible.

With MLB’s decision to include Negro Leagues statistics in the official records, those achievements had finally received the recognition they had deserved, placing these historic players among baseball’s all-time greats.
