The Hum and Hum energy
The first European residents of New Island began hearing a humlike sound soon after becoming shipwrecked on the island's southwestern coast in 1799. It was felt to be a soothing sound that swept in softly, then built in intensity as it swirled around those who experienced it.
Here is what we in the Hum Tribe know about the Hum:
HUM - the Hum - Hum energy - Hum love
Time span of existence: The Big Bang to the present
Origins:
At the Big Bang, when matter and energy first differentiated and then interacted to become the first hydrogen atom, Hum energy was there, and has been there ever since.
Description:
Hum energy is the force that holds the Universe together. At Plank-level quantum dimensions, or Plank-space, energy and matter are brought together in what is called a quantum foam. According to the Kwanlin Codex, discovered on 1944 on New Island, this quantum foam IS Hum Energy. The Hum is also believed to also be the force behind love and joy - it WANTS all beings, from galaxies to lizards, to basically feel 'good', to love one another, and regenerate forever. It constantly flows, or vibrates, through he Universe at speeds far greater than the speed of light.
Relationship to all life forms:
As the Universe evolved from pure hydrogen into the more complex elements of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon, Hum energy was the fuel. Later, the Hum became responsible for abiogenesis - that point where carbon-based organic compounds become living organisms. It is believed to be the intention of the Hum is to not only generate life but to celebrate it. The Hum is responsible for the concepts of Joy and Love.
Relationship to humans:
People don’t actually hear the Hum as sound waves. Instead, when the human brain is ‘buzzed’ with Hum energy, it perceives it as a usually deep melodious, stereo sound that moves swiftly, as if flying, around the person ‘hearing’ it. It can be a deep base or high-register hum, but it is always a humming sound. It is pleasant and soothing, and (almost) never intrusive or disturbing. Anyone can turn it off, so to speak, by simply willing it away. When several people experience this sensation together, they fully believe, and can say, 'Yes, we all heard that just now.'
Dogs, cats and horses have also been observed hearing or sensing it, and the energy seems to calm them as well.
Hum energy has been ‘heard’ for ages, but in recent centuries only on New Island. According to Hindu scripture, the universal word OM was inspired by the Hum.
New Island's archaeologist-physicist-witch Roselle Beall discovered in the 1960s that the island’s Kwanlin culture, which mysteriously left the island 800 years ago, had a deep knowledge of the Hum. After 20 years of research, she determined that the Kwanlin, as they called themselves, knew the physical origins of the Hum and also knew how to use it! After translating the “Kwanlin Codex” she found it to be a kind of how-to book on manipulating Hum energy.
Energy source:
Though the Kwanlin also wrote how Hum energy could theoretically be harnessed to make a not-very-bright lamp, they did not have the technology to accomplish this. Roselle, with her physics background, figured out the materials, the method, and the electromagnetic “key” to controlling this technology. She wishes she hadn’t let this genie out of the bottle!
Roselle also discovered that The Kwanlin learned how to manipulate the Hum itself – how to focus tiny amounts inside another person’s brain, usually to scramble their thoughts. She also found that, by focusing the correct Hum field and the correct intensity at the target, Hum energy could be used to interrupt electronic and electrical circuits. This can be tricky, but with at least a year of training and practice, ‘Hum influence can be achieved,' she said.
Spiritual aspect:
Those who hear the hum describe an uplifting, soothing affect – and sometimes a profound spiritual rush, depending on their emotional state at the time. Roselle found a Kwanlin footnote that said: “Hum energy is a vast and ferocious force, yet at the same time it is the most subtle-yet-powerful energy that we feel when we feel love.” Roselle added, “There is a quality in Hum energy that is telling us that the Universe wants us to feel good and alive!”
Caution:
The Hum does NOT want to be manipulated or harnessed as an “energy source by any means. It can be very destructive to anyone who tries this. (Roselle found this out the hard way...
