American Revolutionary War Journal
A young, unknown New Hampshire militiaman kept this detailed log of his service under Brig. General William Whipple from 1777-1779, before and during the Battle of Rhode Island. It stands today as one of the earliest records of Citizen Soldiery in our nation's history.

Among the oldest and most unique artifacts in our collection, this remarkable firsthand account of military operations during the American Revolution also includes a list of daily expenditures and details on travel, along with musical scores and remembrances of friends and loved ones.

Thomas R. Norris earned the Medal of Honor for an extraordinary series of rescue missions in Vietnam. In April 1972, he repeatedly ventured deep into enemy-controlled territory to save two downed American pilots, enduring heavy fire, failed attempts, and dangerous night operations. Disguised as a fisherman and using a small sampan, Norris successfully reached and evacuated an injured pilot while evading enemy patrols, ultimately bringing him to safety. His courage, ingenuity, and unwavering commitment to his fellow service members exemplify the extraordinary valor and selfless sacrifice recognized by the Medal of Honor. https://bit.ly/4fNE1Kk

During a fierce Viet Cong assault on a remote fire support base in Vietnam, then-Pfc. Sammy L. Davis repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to keep his artillery position in the fight. Despite painful wounds, he loaded and fired a burning howitzer multiple times, then crossed a deep river, despite being unable to swim, to rescue three wounded comrades. His extraordinary courage helped save lives and repel the attack, earning him the Medal of Honor.
