"Steadfastly open all year is the Morrison Gallery in the town center, a linchpin of Litchfield County’s art scene. And there is nothing backwoods about its enriching group exhibitions and solo shows that keep pace with established and emergi

ng contemporary artists. Openings and receptions, often with live jazz, draw collectors from Manhattan, the Litchfield Hills and beyond." ---Gerri Hirshey

Michael McGrath “SOFT SIGNALS” 30 May-12 July
Opening reception, Saturday 30 May from 5-7 PM
We are pleased to announce Michael McGrath’s first solo exhibition at Morrison Gallery. SOFT SIGNALS, focuses on communication and light that can be sent and received. Figures generate it, carry it, and use it. Something is being exchanged, though not in a direct or obvious way.
People, animals, and the landscape are in conversation; a feeling moves back and forth without being spoken.r.mcgrath

Alexander Liberman (1912-1999)
On view from 11 April-24 May: “CIRCLES” is an exhibition of a series of paintings by Alexander Liberman from 1993 that reflect a more relaxed and fluid moment in Liberman’s late paintings. These “loose circle” compositions are rendered in black, white, and gray with some using impasto that adds depth and tactility to the restrained color mode. CIRCLES marks a notable shift from the artist’s earlier, more hard edge, geometric works.

Last weekend to catch the Rob Zombie exhibition “WHAT LURKS ON CHANNEL X?”
This exhibition features a first time viewing of Rob Zombie’s large-scale paintings. Rob never intended to share these canvasses with the public, but after offering this unique museum show to Rob, we are very pleased that the outcome was an overwhelming success, and extended through December 7th.
Limited edition prints, hand signed and numbered by Rob are available at morrisoneditions.com
Thank you for sharing these amazing paintings for all to enjoy. Until next time! 🥂
