It was a pleasure to talk with Bekah McNeel about our community's history. Kerr County has always exhibited strength and grit, and this past year has reinforced our community's ability to come together to support each other.

“We're open for business, and we're still healing,” says Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr.

Keeping exhibit casework clean and smudge free is a chore but it's a priority so that our artifacts shine. Come check out our community's stories and unique artifacts, like a late 1800s whiskey jug from Kerrville's Depot Saloon, a popular spot located near Kerrville's original railway station that offered local ranchers and cowboys the option of taking their whiskey “to go.”

The Heritage Center is open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm. Admission is $7/adults, $6/seniors 65+, $5/children 9-17, FREE for children 8 and under.

We're excited to host this FREE tile making workshop with Kerr County Love Project on Friday from 4-6pm! All are welcome to make a tile to add to the developing mosaic that will be installed at the Hill Country Youth Events Center. BONUS Free admission to our newly opened exhibits from 4-6pm on Friday!

Join us in celebrating the grand opening of the Heart of the Hills Heritage Center!

The Kerr County Love Project will be there making tiles, connecting with community, and honoring the rich history and beauty of Kerr County. We’re so excited to partner with the Heritage Center as they open their doors after renovation—come explore the space and be part of something meaningful.

From 4–6 PM, we’ll be hosting a hands-on tile-making activity for our large-scale community mosaic. All ages are welcome—no experience needed. Just come as you are and add your piece to a project rooted in connection, resilience, and the natural beauty of the Hill Country.

✨ Come for the history, stay to create, and help build something lasting together.
