Walking in their Shoes II: Go Figure
The Paintings of Lucy Warlick

Reception Saturday, April 25, 2026 • 6-8 pm
Free and Open to the Public

Join us Saturday evening to experience the art of Lucy Warlick. Lucy will be in attendance to meet and discuss her work. Live music during the reception by Hoyt Taylor on flute.

Lucy Warlick’s current paintings continue to show her main goal: to entice the viewer to exercise their “empathy muscles” by putting themselves “into the shoes” of the subjects of her paintings, reflecting on their own lives while imagining what’s happening in the paintings.

Most of the paintings reference the Library of Congress’ collections, with the exception of her newest series “Caught” which features fishermen, women and children she photographed at the Springmaid Pier in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Walking in Their Shoes, Part 2: Go Figure - The Paintings of Lucy Warlick will be on view through June 12, 2026 in the galleries at Southern Arts Society. You can see more images on Southern Arts Society’s website and page. Artwork in the exhibit is available for sale.

Dear SASi Members and Friends –

NO SASi Program Tonight.

Due to the Easter Holiday, Our First Tuesday SASi Program scheduled for April 7 has been moved to Saturday April 18th at 1 pm.

Saturday April 18th – Special SASi Program – Water Mixable Oils

SASi Member William Martin will demonstrate his techniques working wet on wet using water mixable oils.

While William is known for his skills painting in watercolor “en plein air”, he has recently enjoyed experimenting in oils.

He will tell us more about himself, his methods and materials, and then show us how he puts oil paint on canvas – using only his imagination!

Please join us on the 18th to meet William and learn more about water mixable oil painting.

Refreshments will be served beginning at 12:30 and the program will begin at 1 pm.

This is a FREE event.
