Upstate Art Weekend Open Studios is THIS WEEKEND! Anne Sanger *number 18 on the UAW map in Kingston* is showing tons of NEW WORK made over a long, hard winter. With 240 artists participating, it’s hard to know where to start! Might we suggest dropping by Kingston Social for an Italian Breakfast, then popping upstairs to the 3rd floor to visit Anne in her studio? Then swing by the ‘Earthen Plot’ show at UAW HQ (216) right around the corner on Wall Street and then walk down to Utopia (196) on North Front Street and check out Olivia Rose and Chelsea Herzig. It’s just a short walk or drive over to the Shirt Factory and the Fuller Building in Midtown, both of which have numerous of UAW Open Studio participants (more info at the link in the profile). Voilà: the perfect Upstate Art Weekend in Kingston!
All of Anne’s recent work is now available on the Pinkwater Gallery website (link in profile) and will be on view in Kingston in the artist’s studio located at 239 Fair Street 3rd Floor this Saturday + Sunday 11am - 4pm May 16-17. Some $$$ deals on older work and a chance to purchase new, framed work with no sales tax!
The founder of Pinkwater Gallery, Anne Sanger is herself an abstract painter and fashion illustrator whose gestural abstraction is exuberant and intuitive. Her recent paintings and fashion illustrations, created over this past long winter, are a celebration of that which eludes us during that brutal season and which is only now just starting to arrive in the Northeast with the emergence of spring. The sensual nature of color, the energy of wind in the trees, the ease of barefoot days, the delight of fragrant flowers… all encapsulated in Anne’s latest expressive work.
