Saturday at 2:00 join us for a tour and reception of the exhibition Art Colonies of Ulster County. This delicate watercolor by an unknown Elverhoj Colony artist for Mrs. Doran is one of several jewelry designs on display.

And, thank you to all our lenders and historians who made this first exhibition in our new galleries possible. We look forward to celebrating with you tomorrow!

Ulster County Historical Society and Museum is hosting a Vintage
Baseball Game on September 10 (raindate Sept. 11) at 2:00pm with the Binghamton Crickets taking on the Kingston Guards. It will be held at Marbletown Park at 350 Tongore Road. An old-time baseball game is old-time community fun. Step back in time and see how base ball was played 150 years ago. Vintage uniforms, 1800s rules (no gloves), and old-fashioned thrills for the whole family!

Museum Monday!

Today we pride ourselves in the ways in which we create furniture that can multi-task. A table and a desk can be interchangeable. A sofa opens to a bed, or a wall pulls down to reveal a bed. But the early colonists also created furniture that could serve multiple purposes. The image you see is of the table with its top tilted sideways. This tilt top allowed it to be pushed against the wall when the family needed more space. And, when pushed to the wall, the base of the table served as an extra chair! View this chair-table both as it is in this picture, and when the top is positioned as a table at the Ulster County Historical Society's Bevier House Museum. And while you are there, please enjoy the Arts and Crafts Colonies of Ulster County exhibit- Elverhoj, Byrdcliff, and Cragsmoor. The Museum is open until October 24th.
