William Kreinhop and Caroline Kaiser on their wedding day.

One of my favorite family stories was told by William’s grandson, Bill Kreinhop. It’s a story about hard work, honesty, and the kind of character that defined a generation.

William farmed the land and worked from sunrise to long after sunset. After gathering vegetables from the farm, he would sack them, wash them, and load them onto a wagon. Before daylight the next morning, he’d hitch the horses and make the long trip into downtown Houston to the Farmers Market, where he sold his produce to the old grocery store, Henke & Pillot.

After a full day in town, he climbed back onto the wagon and headed home, often not arriving until 10 o’clock that night. One evening, after finally getting home, William counted his money and realized the store clerk had accidentally paid him $10 too much — a significant amount of money at that time.

The next morning, before daylight once again, William saddled his horse and rode all the way back to Houston just to return the extra $10.

William believed a handshake was as good as a contract, and that a man was only as good as his word. Those values built strong families, lasting friendships, and communities we still admire today.

Some stories deserve to be remembered. ❤️

The final field trip of the season went out with a bang. 🌾
Second graders from Providence Classical School didn’t just read Little House on the Prairie — they lived it.
They tasted fresh cucumbers straight from the garden. Churned their own butter and spread it warm on crackers. Drew water from the well. Drank from the windmill. Fed and cared for livestock. Learned why every animal on the farm had a purpose.
They even discovered the true adventure of outhouse life. 😄
And to top it all off — photos in a covered wagon to remember it forever.
This is what hands-on learning looks like. Not worksheets. Not videos. Real soil, real work, real history — brought to life the way Laura Ingalls Wilder herself would recognize.
Until next season. 🤠

Today we celebrated our founding German families. We had games, food, competitions, a wonderful market and most importantly…we had the community show up! We had choirs, solos, and stories. I didn’t get a picture but hopefully you got to see the Model T and hear from Mr. Edwin give talks all about it!
We hope you got out and celebrated and had a great day. We are THANKFUL for this community!
