These folks were AMAZING and their objects were so cool! Thank you to each of them for sharing their wonderful, personal stories with everyone. We know it ain’t easy stepping on stage and talking about objects. We do it for a living, so we know!!!

So while this Show & Tell for adults definitely is a chance to share important or cool or weird or personal objects and stories, This Belongs in a Museum is also a chance to be a curator of our collective memory. You get to choose what goes in the digital museum and you get to tell its story. Because this is not just about history, it’s about your story

The truth is though, your story and history are one and the same. History is a collection of personal stories and it was amazing to share the process of recording those stories for the future with everyone last week.

Last Thursday we saw amazing, cool things that belong in a museum and heard amazing, personal stories about those things. There were drumheads and digital cameras and DNA cards and cookbook stands and roller skates and more. Each with its own story. Big shout out to for hosting. Be sure to check out their schedule of upcoming events including live band karaoke this Wednesday!

We can’t wait for the next one in August! Stay tuned for more details and pictures!

It’s the everyday things…the stuff we carry with us all the time that often holds the most powerful memories. They are gentle reminders of the revolving memories in our lives. Victoria shared two of those everyday things—her bracelet and purse—yet they were unique and meaningful to her. To Victoria, each is reminder of mother and daughter.

The yellow and gold bracelet always on her wrist was originally a birthday gift—twice. When she was five years old, Victoria saved money to until her piggy bank was full to buy a birthday present for her mom, then she and her dad went the local jeweler in Orlando where they picked out the bracelet together. Dumping out all the money from her piggy bank, she “paid” for it, while her dad secretly slipped to the cashier the credit card. Her mom wore until it was passed back to Victoria when she herself became on mother on her OWN birthday! THAT’S RIGHT...Victoria and her daughter have the same birthday!! In the delivery room, her mom—now a grandmother—took the bracelet off her own wrist and put it on Victoria’s as a birthday gift.

Her Dooney and Bourke purse also reminds her the cycle of motherhood too. First off, the all-weather leather handbag can be rained on (we promise this is not an ad)!! Second, her mom had them when she was a kid and now she has her own—also gift from her mom too!
Third, the gold medallion with the unmistakable duck logo strung from the purse has tied mother and daughter together for two generations. When mom’s hands are full, daughter holds the medallion so they don’t separate. Victoria wore down her mom’s gold duck to held it so much and now her daughter is doing the same thing.

Gold duck. Gold bracelet. That’s not just history, it’s her story.

You know what’s cooler then being cool…a Chilly Whilly 🐧😂

Meet Chilly Whilly the penguin, an international traveler and companion extraordinaire! Chilly Whilly originally hails from the St. Louis Zoo and Kyle’s first time ever seeing penguins. Only moving to the Mid-West from California shortly before his visit to the Zoo, Kyle had been homesick but the then he saw PENGUINS and got Chilly W***y. Since then the pair have travelled across the United States again ,to new home and old homes, and even to far away places like Spain and Vietnam. This guy definitely belongs in a museum!

It’s so cool Chilly W***y has joined our waddle and even cooler Kyle shared their travels together!

We can’t wait to see what things appear at our next SHOW & TELL event on Thursday, July 28th at , 7:30pm.

Bring your own Chilly Whilly and share your story, not just history.

Our first ever entry into the This Belongs in a Museum Collection was no moon, it was a space station! Patrick showed off his Death Star Micro Machine from 1997 and told us about growing up a Star Wars kid and playing with his brother and sister. No secret plans required to open this micro-sized space station into the desert plant of Tatooine and visit the Mos Eisley cantina. But watch out for Tusken Raiders!

Share your cool stuff at our next This Belongs in A Museum at on Thursday, July 28th at 7:30pm!

It’s your story, not history!
