Candoro Marble

Candoro Marble Candoro Arts & Heritage Association celebrates the legacy of the marble industry in Knoxville, Tennessee.

A community non-profit organization that helped save the 1923 Office Building by Architect Charles Barber. The Candoro Arts & Heritage Center works to preserve the history of the Candoro Marble Building and honor the history and legacy of Vestal and the Marble City. We collect the stories of those that grew up in the Vestal community and worked at the Candoro Marble Building and celebrate the rich cultural history of the community that built Knoxville.

Pink Marble Rules

We have the best team, and it is nice to be recognized with a Pinnacle Award of Excellence from the Natural Stone Institute. This project pushed our limits and emboldened our pursuits, and is a showcase of the natural beauty of our beloved Tennessee Pink Marble in Light Rose and the thoughtful creativity of Ennead Architecture's Billy Erhard. Great working with the team at Clark Construction, what a feat!

Marble History: Thomas Wolfe's father carved marble and owned a monument business in Asheville NC. He imported carved angels from Italy, thus the inspiration of "Look Homeward Angel." Fun fact, his sister Mabel introduced James Stokely to Wilma Dykeman.
