William Slater created several paintings based on the Morton Salt logo. Does anyone know where these paintings might be now? I am hoping to feature them in his retrospective at MoNA in 2023. Thanks in advance for any tips on their provenance.

https://www.schack.org/exhibits/ Went to Schack Art Center today and saw a fabulous exhibit that included the work of Lucy Mae and Peter VanZanden. All recycled materials and it will blow your mind.

Snohomish County High School Seniors submitted art portfolios to be eligible for this exhibit and for college scholarships.

There's still time to donate to this year's MoNA auction. You can submit work to http://monamuseum.org/art-procurement and be included in this wonderful event that supports exhibits like The Barn Shows and Max Benjamin: A Road Less Traveled, curated by the amazing Susan Parke. We're so fortunate in La Conner to have MoNA and exhibits featuring local artists of achievement. Here's my submission this year, from my series of desserts: Frida's Flan, oil on canvas, 30x20". I encourage all my artist friends to help make this the best auction ever!

Have you ever been called by a whisper to pay attention to something on the periphery of your attention?

I've been watching barns. Not those classic, romantic barns, but those large attempts at useful architecture in a landscape that vigorously opposes angularity and human endeavor. I want to know how the cultivated and the wild mix, both inside me and in my environment. You can see more of these paintings on the Gallery Cygnus website. http://www.gallerycygnus.com

Mary Randlett, the master photographer, passed away yesterday at age 94. Here she is at Gallery Cygnus in 2013, with many of her portrait pieces. Folks would marvel at her landscape photos, and often ask "What kind of camera does she use?" I would say "Listen, it's not about her camera. Mary Randlett spent days waiting for light to be right, finding the right perch, and then composing in camera, and then finally using darkroom techniques and no digital technology at all to get her remarkable images." Who knows how to do this now? Anyone? Rest in peace, dear Mary.
