Belknap Mill Located in the heart of Laconia, the Historic Belknap Mill is the Official Meetinghouse of NH. visit www.belknapmill.org/museum

Built in 1823, the Belknap Mill is the oldest, unaltered brick textile mill in the United States. The Belknap Mill was one of the first mills to convert from weaving to knitting during the Civil War. As one of the first listed buildings on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, the Belknap Mill shows how preservation and history can combine in a community-based museum and cultural arts center.

📌 There's a lot happening at the Belknap Mill this week!

🧶 Join our Fiber Arts Group on Tuesday from 10 AM to 12 PM. No registration required, just bring your creativity and enjoy a morning of crafting and community.

⚙️ On Wednesday, explore the history of the Mill with guided tours led by Kathy Anderson at 11 AM and 1 PM.

🎶 Then on Friday, don't miss our Annual Sock Hop! Admission is free, festivities begin at 5 PM, and Rockin' Daddios take the stage at 6 PM. Enjoy classic cars, great music, food trucks, costume contests, raffles, and family-friendly fun.

The Belknap Mill will be closed tomorrow in observance of Labor Day.

We'll reopen on Tuesday and look forward to welcoming visitors back to the museum Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM. 🏛️

A new window into the past ✨

Have you ever wondered what this view looked like over 125 years ago? Thanks to a newly installed historic window film in the Powerhouse, visitors can now look "through time" and see a depiction of the Busiel Mill, located just across the brick walkway from the Belknap Mill, as it appeared in the late 1890s.

This unique addition helps bring Laconia's industrial past to life, offering a glimpse into the bustling mill district that shaped our community and powered the region's growth. ⚙️

✨ Today is Mary's last day volunteering at the Belknap Mill before heading back to school!

It's hard to believe summer is coming to an end and that we're saying goodbye (for now) to Mary. Mary is Fallon's 10-year-old daughter, and over the past few months, the staff, volunteers, and many visitors to the Mill have had the pleasure of getting to know her as a dedicated volunteer who was always ready to lend a hand wherever she was needed! 💙

From helping with Kids in the Park and sharing ideas for future events to welcoming visitors at our front desk, Mary brought energy, enthusiasm, and positivity to everything she did. Her kindness, creativity, and willingness to jump in made a real difference, and she has been a joy to have around.

Please join us in wishing Mary a fantastic school year! 📚
