Had a lovely time painting in Georgia this last week for the Invitational—we spent the first part of our trip up in the mountains at a cozy little cabin which ended up serving as inspiration for my competition paintings, but of course my real muse was who so generously posed for me all weekend (do you know how many of my favorite models are named Emma? Kind of crazy!)

Beyond ribbons and red dots, which I am so grateful for (and equally shocked) the best part was truly the time I spent with these wonderful people. There is nothing better than spending a week chasing the muse in good company! Truly love these folks and the people who make these things happen for artists.

AND this trip just so happened to line up with the Lipking Retrospective at the Booth Museum, so we got to see that too. An amazing week.

This is the next painting in my series based on the four seasons. My goal with this series is to capture the feelings associated with their respective seasons: winter being fragile, vulnerable, yet slightly comforting (for me at least.) Model is my beautiful friend .sojo 🩵

This little lady started out as a demo for a student on the topic of edges, brush economy & movement. With these smaller paintings (this one is 8x10”) I try to substitute detail for interesting shapes and marks, so I’m always trying to be present at every stage and intentional with every stroke.

This painting will be available thru this April— I’m excited to be returning for my second year to do some Plein air and see some lovely faces Georgia! 💚 visit Olmstedartsinc.org for more info.
