Expert work is always worth a fair price and that includes restoration work on your treasured art work or family photo. The value comes in the long term durability of the fix and the fact that the work will be done to the highest possible standard.

Fluctuations in humidity and temperature, pollution, and lighting are just a few of the environmental effects that can damage and disfigure artwork. We apply time-tested techniques and the latest modern tools to carefully restore your works of art.

Many art restoration efforts uncover surprises. For centuries, restoration often involved the use of heavy over-painting, blocky patching and thick touch ups. Modern restoration techniques allow us to remove and undo those old, undesirable methods and reveal the beauty of the original work.

In framing, ultraviolet blocking glass is a great way to preserve color fidelity. This is particularly true in the case of so-called fugitive colors: pigments and dyes that fade or change color when exposed to light and/or heat.

Most old photographs brown or yellow with age. They can also easily become scratched, bent or torn. Let us show you how we can take your tattered and faded family snapshots and restore them to their original vibrancy for a new generation.

A proper frame should not detract from the item it holds. If it is too large or ostentatious, it can make the picture seem cheap and ta**ry. Conversely, if it is too small or light, it can create a sense of flimsiness and inadequacy.

08/20/2013

There are two goals when it comes to art restoration. The restorer will employ treatment that is best for the immediate preservation of the painting, but also execute the work so that any future removal of their efforts can be accomplished without in any way endangering the original painting.

Skills and equipment are both necessary aspects to doing a good job of restoring your favorite artwork or photo. That’s why professional restoration is always worth the price- especially since those memories and the value of the art work cannot be replaced after they are lost.

Matting can be used as a means to create interesting patterns. Select a mat that covers the entire picture, and cut designs in key locations to reveal different concepts from the painting or picture. When you want a new look, insert new matting that has a different pattern.

08/08/2013

A general rule to consider when planning a mat for your art or photo is to never use a mat lighter, brighter or darker than the lightest, brightest, or darkest color of your art piece. Also, don’t use a foreign color, or a color that is not in the art piece.

If you are framing a special photo such as a wedding photo, or framing a professional document, you should choose a frame that will be more prominent than the rest of the frames in your home, to highlight it’s importance.
