Sport Fish Restoration: Conservation That Casts Forward

Your fishing license does more than get you on the water — it supports the Sport Fish Restoration Program.

Funded through license purchases and excise taxes on fishing equipment and motorboat fuel, this program provides fisheries management, habitat restoration, boating access, and aquatic education across Louisiana.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Nature and Science Center features many projects showing your license dollars at work.

Visit LDWF’s Nature and Science Center to see conservation in action.

Every cast counts. Every license gives back.

🐊In celebration of World Wildlife Day this week, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Nature and Science Center is proud to spotlight our Pillars of Success, our pylon exhibits highlighting Louisiana’s greatest wildlife conservation comeback stories.

➡️From the coastal return of the Brown Pelican to the recovery of the Louisiana Black Bear, and the successful management of American Alligator, White-tailed Deer, and the reintroduction of the Whooping Crane, these stories show that conservation works.

👋Visit us to explore our Pillars of Success and see how LDWF continues protecting Louisiana’s wildlife for generations to come.

Happy Galentine’s Day to all the bold and brilliant females out there!

Today we’re celebrating one of the Gulf Coast’s iconic queens, the mature female blue crab. Notice those bright red-tipped claws? That vibrant color is a sign she’s a mature, reproductive female.

Strong. Distinct. Unmistakable.

Want to see these red-tipped queens up close? Come visit the blue crabs at the LDWF Nature & Science Center and take a closer look at one of the Gulf’s most fascinating females.

Here’s to red-tipped queens in the Gulf and beyond. Happy Galentine’s Day! 💕
