The Museum is open! Right now! Mike and Lisa Johnson are here from 10-2 today!!! The Museum will be open every Saturday through September and our volunteers will be happy to take you through the history of the Lakeview area!

The Museum Board is excited to invite you all to come to this concert on Monday, June 15. We started our fundraising two years ago with this band, the Central Michigan Area Concert Band. It was a great time with a great band! We are sponsoring them again and hope to share how the Museum is doing with raising funds for building an addition to our current museum. Hope to see you!!!

We had a great turnout with visitors to the Museum today! Gloria Sirrine Switzer and Gary Switzer were just some of the visitors that stopped by. They have donated several items to the Museum recently, including Gary's FFA jacket, Gloria's Girl Scout badge sash and Sr. Girl Scout hat, and photos of the Girl Scout troop she was a member of for most of her years at Lakeview Schools. Her troop leader for all of that time was Evelyn Moyses. She also donated a scrapbook with lots of clippings of athletic events that her brother, Gary Sirrine, had participate in during his time at LHS. What a nice visit we had! We hope to see more of you at the Museum during this summer!

The Museum is open...come and see us!

OPEN! WE are OPEN! Come see us at the Museum. The time to come is on Saturdays from 10:00 to 2:00, from June 6 through the end of September. Besides wonderful historical displays of the Lakeview area, we have a new bathroom to show off! Thanks to the support of our friends and community (donations and grants), a new bathroom has been "created" in our backroom space. No more porta-potties! We hope to see you sometime this summer. And, there will be special extended hours during Summerfest Week. We will be open from 10:00 to 5:00 on Friday, June 19 and on Saturday, June 20. Bring any burning questions you may have about your own family history or the history of Lakeview and we will try our best to find answers for you. See you soon!

We had a great fundraiser last month and we want to thank everyone who took part. We have one silent auction item remaining and want to offer it here. This is a basket of LHS Wildcat gear, donated by Boujee on Main (see the picture). The value of the basket is $150. The starting bid is $25.00. It will be up for your bids from today through next Tuesday (June 9). If you would like to make a bid on this basket, post it below. If you win, I will let you know next Wednesday (June 10). Well, what a great evening last Friday at the Mashed Potato Bar and Silent Auction in Tamarack Place!!! We want to thank everyone who supported the fundraiser, contributing to the plans to build an addition onto the current Lakeview Area Museum building. The food was great! The company delightful! We were able to share our plans and answer questions. And the auction items encouraged lots of bidding. We estimate that about $3500 was raised! Thank you to our wonderful, generous community!

We have more information about one of our Silent Auction items: the length of an airplane ride, donated by Clark Newell (thanks, Clark!) is for up to an hour in length.

Earlier tonight at the Tamarack District Library, Ric Mixter presented a program about the shipwreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Ric is a shipwreck researcher. He also shared the many dives he has done in the Great Lakes.
He heard about our fundraiser coming this Friday and donated two of his books for the Silent Auction. Thank you, Ric!
