Pam Farris:
Silent Empires
Inspired by history, travel, and the art of mosaics, my work brings together ancient and modern materials including glass, stone, and ceramic. These mosaics range from historically accurate depictions to imaginative interpretations, exploring the connection between past and present through pattern, texture, and storytelling.
Karen Eberle-Smith:
Currents
In creating Currents, I was understanding the dance of when to hold on to the way point versus letting the current and winds guide me. In my work, I explore the delicate interplay between control and surrender. Each piece reflects a balancing act, navigating the tension between holding onto our intentions and allowing the currents of life to guide us. Through this creative journey, I aim to capture the essence of movement, inviting viewers to embrace the dance between steadfastness and openness. When Abaca paper pulp is highly beaten, it creates a high shrinkage during the drying process. As the fibers dry, the paper bends and distorts in unpredictable ways. Using highly beaten abaca paper pulp in my practice allows the paper to create its own shape. My art is an invitation to reflect on the waypoints we cling to, and the freedom found in letting the winds of change shape our path.

Post-Human
May 29-July 5th
What comes after “human”? What does human mean, anyway? What might humans become as a species? Or one human when their humanity is left behind? What would the earth be like after humans? It’s an open question. Here for you to ponder is what Next member artists think and feel about it. What does it mean to you?
