How about a gallery mixing mid century furniture and objects with art?

How about a gallery mixing mid century furniture and objects with art?

There is a "gentleman" , who owned a Gallery in New Hope for many years who now is in the business of "helping" artists for a fee. I will refer to him as H C.I saw a recent post an artist made on his page who just friended him. Perhaps he is seeking advice from him. The artist said he was once represented by J & W in New Hope but it didn't work out. He didn't say why. But the response HC gave to this post really annoyed me. He basically said that he has heard " similar things all too many times before", insinuating that the reason he left had something to do with the way we ran our gallery or how we treated artists. Now, besides the fact this happened over 10 years ago or more...what does it say about a person who has to knock someone down to prop themselves up? I really should take his comment with a grain of salt considering what I know of him, his reputation and the way he treated customers and artists...but I am too much of a gentleman for that. If I see anymore lies being spread, I have no choice but to use my combined friends list of artists, clients and galleries to defend my reputation.

Hello J&W friends and artists. You haven't heard from me in quite sometime. I hope you all are well. Walter asked me the other day , if I thought it was time to reopen the Gallery. New name, new concept......I am still unsure, given the market and other factors. But if I did, where do you think would be a good place? Red Bank? Frenchtown? Please let me know your thoughts and opinions. Many thanks!

The gallery is now officially closed as of October 1st, 2014.
Thank you for all your past support and patronage.
Maybe there will be a new location, with a new name...maybe:)
The Art market is just terrible right now and has been for many years and I really never connected with this location or space. It was not what we really wanted or envisioned.
We need a rest and want to spend my time traveling and with our family.
I can't tell you how good it feels to be free of the gallery after 17 years! :)
All the best, Joe and Walter

Wishing all of you a great weekend. Please remember that Memorial Day is not about shopping, going to the shore or a cookout. Its about remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so you are able to be free, safe and do all those things. God Bless America. Shown: Fred Stein, NYC 1940's

Fred Stein (1909-1967) limited edition framed and numbered estate prints, now at the Gallery. Shown below:"Bonwit Teller Window", "Ballfield" and "Elevated", all NYC circa: 1940's.

Fred Stein's photographs reflect a world seen with poignant clarity. Born in Dresden, Germany in 1909, he became a brilliant law student and fervent anti-Nazi activist. He was forced to flee to Paris in 1933. Living among a circle of expatriate artists and intellectuals, Stein took up photography. He was a pioneer of the small, hand-held camera-the Leica. Its mobility allowed him to range through the streets documenting the life he saw there with ease and naturalness. This new approach also enabled him to make strikingly intimate portraits of the people who shaped the intellectual life of Europe in the 1930's.
