Going through studio stashes of old drawings, paintings, fragments of abandoned ideas and still-dynamic themes. These two are from the Florida (land of flowers) years; finding musical patterns in bougainvillea with my favorite color palette. We are gathering a collection of sketches for the gallery, looking forward to expanding our unframed, affordable options—💜

From a few years ago, this sculptural piece on wood is my vision of George Gershwin’s 1925 composition “Rhapsody in Blue.” Music has been at the core of my work for years—a boundless source of inspiration and joy.🎼

A painting often may have a life of its own, and an artist’s job is simply to show up, listen, and serve—the greatest task. While working on this piece, I couldn’t stop thinking of Stephen Spender’s poem, “The Truly Great,” especially the gorgeous first stanza:

I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul’s history
Through corridors of light, where the hours are suns,
Endless and singing.
Whose lovely ambition
Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit, clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bodies like blossoms.
