Landis Valley Museum

Landis Valley Museum Landis Valley Museum was once an actual crossroads village. Situated on 100 acres in scenic Lancaster, PA
(683)

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum collects, preserves and interprets the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German rural community from 1740 to 1940 and enhances understanding of their successful practices, interactions with others, and the impact on the state and nation for citizens of and visitors to the Commonwealth. The museum's richly layered story is the history of an early P

ennsylvania German settlement, an unusual farm family, and the ongoing creation and exploration of a wonderfully diverse collection of artifacts. When brothers Henry Kinzer Landis (1865-1955) and George Diller Landis (1867 - 1954) opened the museum in 1925 at their Landis Valley residence, the area had been a small Pennsylvania German settlement since the mid 1800s. Expanded to its current size, we now invite visitors to experience 18th and 19th century village and farm life in Lancaster County, Pa, all in one visit. With over 100 acres and many historic buildings to explore throughout the four seasons, there's always something to see at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum.

Spring 2026 has arrived at Landis Valley, and the village is waking up!

From the smell of freshly turned soil to the sound of heritage breeds in the pasture, our staff has been working tirelessly to bring history to life. But keeping this immersive experience thriving takes more than just hard work—it takes a community.

We’ve set a goal to raise $20,000 for our 2026 Spring Fund Campaign. These funds go directly toward:

*Maintaining our historic Pennsylvania German village.

*Supporting our living history programs.

*Ensuring the Museum remains a leading resource for generations to come.

If Landis Valley has ever helped you feel a connection to the past, would you consider a gift today? Thank you!

We're about a month away from Landis Valley Museum's new event, Father's Day Cars & Coffee! ☕️

Joining us will be the Horseless Carriage Club! They'll have about a dozen cars which range from 1904 to 1909. Jeff, who is with the club, said "the dozen cars represent a real sampling of the fledgling US auto industry – Buick, Oldsmobile, REO, Ford, Cadillac, Franklin, Yale, Maxwell and Renault for France. The owners include folks from PA, NY, NJ and even Michigan." 🏎

Get a cup of coffee from and enjoy a stroll through these cars and more!

Please join us in sending condolences to Vernon Gunnion's family ❤️

Vernon previously served as a curator here at Landis Valley Museum. Even after being curator, him and his wife, Beth, continued to be Museum members and donors. We greatly appreciate all of the care and support Vernon showed the Museum. He left a lasting impact at the Museum and will be deeply missed!
