This one’s mine. The resurrection fern.
Not for sale.
No value will be assigned to this, no number to put in a box for evaluation and division of assets.
This one seems pivotal.

If you’re not religious, you have to resurrect yourself.

I’ve started writing again, too.
A new chapter is being written, and it has to play out, before I can tell it.
Then I’ll add it to the book and release it.
Happy, quiet days in the studio, working alone. Playing lots of cool tunes in my original basement studio. Just like it all began.
Not filling orders.
Not making something for someone else, or somewhere else, just making things.
Making new things every day and showing them to no one but you guys out there. Someone asked me what my spirit animal was and without any hesitation, I replied “prairie dog.”
What people see is the pop-up part, but 90% of my time it’s just me and sometimes another artist making stuff. Cutting glass and playing in plaster, every day I kick off my shoes and don’t take them upstairs to keep the dust in one spot.
I leave a trail.

As much as I love color, there is an elegance to crystal clear glass.
Last month, I was in South Carolina in a beautiful garden. The ancient live oak trees were covered in brown bits of fluff. They were resurrection ferns, and during a drought they wither away and appear to be nothing but debris. While I was there, there came a long soaking rain. Over the next few hours, I watched them unfurl into beautiful bright green ferns. That was the inspiration for this piece. Whenever I’m working on something new, I always start with clear so I can see the form and not be distracted by color.
Five layers of glass, perfectly fitted!
Each layer made on a single use, texture mold. Each step, a labor of love.
