⚜️ Louisiana’s Bonnet Carre Historical Center aka 1811 Kid Ory Historic House meets 🇫🇷 France 🇳🇱 Netherlands 🇪🇸 Spain 🇬🇧 UK 🇮🇹 Italy 🇧🇷 Brazil!

This weekend, our Historians and Anthropologists met with this amazing group to discuss the 1811 Slave Revolt!

Thank you to the Louisiana’s River Parishes Tourism Commission for this amazing visit!

Friends, we are actively working to ensure the museum operates as a full educational research and preservation-focused campus that serves as a cultural center for all ages and scholars of all academic levels! ⚜️

⚜️ EXCITING UPDATES!

On behalf of Board of the Bonnet Carre Historical Center (1811 Kid Ory Historic House) we are excited to inform you that we are expanding offerings at this time!

Our in-person tours have been temporarily paused as our internal operations involves transitioning to a full educational campus designed to promote on/off site research, programming/events, education, culture and history outreach, and preservation.

Our collaborations with the community, partners, and donors are ongoing and we will be providing updates on the happenings.

We have not closed; we are indeed working!

The Iroquois Theatre on S.Rampart street was the only movie house for black patrons in Louis Armstrong’s childhood neighborhood. In 2014 the owners of the building gutted it. This door was retrieved from the dumpster and now hangs in our museum . It was also a vaudeville theater.
