Good things are coming to Las Vegas!

The Las Vegas Valley is primarily desert, but, tens of thousands of years ago, prehistoric animals wandered the northwest part of the valley.

Join us as we present our guest speaker is UNLV graduate student Lauren Parry and her current work:
The fossil record still poses questions as to the causes of the extinction of the Pleistocene megafauna, including North American proboscideans Mammuthus coumbi (Columbian mammoth) and M. exilis (Pygmy mammoth). This extinction is hotly debated and largely defined by the dichotomous explanations of human-overkill versus climate change-driven ecological stress. Take a look at mainland mammoth populations in the southwest, as well as those preserved in the Channel Islands of California, to gain a unique insight into extinction.

The meeting will be held at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum this Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 5:00 pm. Hope to see everyone there!
