What’s the password this week? 🤫🥃
This week’s password is “Mountain Dew,” a phrase historically used in Ireland as a nickname for poitín, a traditional high-proof spirit often distilled illicitly in remote mountains and bogs.
The phrase appeared in America as early as the 1800s and later became associated with illicit moonshine during Prohibition. Its Irish roots also nod to our upcoming public program, “The Westies,” which explores the violent history of New York City’s Irish Mob.
Whisper “Mountain Dew” at The Underground’s secret door to gain entry.
