Specific display areas in the museum are the Witherspoon Room, First Nations Hall, a hall for visiting exhibits and different aspects of Life in Laurens County - Worshiping, Learning, Serving, and Working. Did you know that Reverend Gary Davis was born in Laurens, SC?

Gary D. Davis, known as Reverend Gary Davis and Blind Gary Davis, was a blues and gospel singer who was also proficient on the banjo, harmonica, and guitar. Born in Laurens, South Carolina, in 1896, and blind since infancy, he first performed professionally in the Piedmont blues scene of Durham, North Carolina in the 1930s. He was completely self-taught and his multi-layered fingerpicking revolutionized acoustic guitar playing, influencing later artists such as Bob Dylan. In the 1940s Davis relocated to New York, converted to christianity and became a minister, while continuing his musical legacy.
