Join us for Final Fridays as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Fresh Produce Art Collective.
FPAC was an artist collective based in Lawrence, Kansas, USA and active from 2006 to 2011. FPAC hosted weekly public meetings for five years and created hundreds of art exhibitions and happenings in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, USA and Paris, France. Members of this collective went on to create and manage institutions such as SeedCo Studios, Wonder Fair and C***r Gallery which continue to operate in Lawrence.
Fresh Produce Art Collective was founded on an ‘open door’ policy, meaning everyone was welcome to come to the weekly meetings and have a chance to participate in collective exhibitions and events. The name, while hinting at the importance of agriculture in the area, is a reference to the fact that participating artists were strongly encouraged to exhibit only their newest, “freshest” creations, and that the collective endeavored to create new, fresh opportunities in the local art scene.
