Today there is a National Shutdown / No School- No Work- No Shopping. I have gone back and forth and back again on how I want to show up as a small business, in a small town, with many incredible immigrant families.
First and foremost,
💥📢💥I love you so much MN💥📢💥
I 100% stand in solidarity with MN, with our immigrant communities and with everyone calling for accountability, dignity and justice. I stand with everyone wanting to make a difference for the betterment of humanity.
Enough is enough!!
That said, I run a small business where I represent over 100 artists and makers. By closing- I feel I’m making that choice for all of them and not with them. And as I am currently out of the country, I’m at a loss as this decision is not just about me and my values, but about all the wonderful artists I represent as a collective.
I want to support my community. What I do know is that we struggle for business, especially in January. Many folks simply can’t afford to close. We have a magical mountain town with so many small businesses and restaurants that provide such a delightful, positive experience for our visitors. We employ a lot of immigrant workers, many of which own small businesses themselves, who depend on these jobs. Every day makes a difference.
While strongly standing in solidarity, we will remain open. All of my profits will go directly to local entities that support our immigrant families.
The conversations will continue. We are a welcoming and inclusive space for all and have a wonderful place to sit, soak in some beautiful art made by talented humans and talk about how we can show up for our community, for our neighbors, far and wide. There are so many ways to show up- what is the best way for you? There are NO WRONG ANSWERS.
I will continue to blast out 💓💓💓 from the rooftops!!
Peace, Love and Solidarity✊💜
