WHAT IS HAPPENING... at the Museum?? We have a display that you see as you walk into the museum for the first time. Since we could never make up our minds exactly what we wanted to put there, we have 'bout decided to make it a Revolving Display! And this idea has been fun. The display currently shows the "Juicers of Kathy Brooks". Not the Ninja electrical type, but the original juicers from back around the 1920s. These juicers grew in popularity around the time of the Depression. Those people were some of the first to realize that humans were not eating exactly right, and they needed more juice in their diet. To squeeze a pitcher full of orange juice was not a popular skill, but someone developed this conical device and the world changed! Made mostly from pressed glass and in colors popular during the time of the Depression, these hand-powered devices became extremely popular. These juicers are now found in antique stores and museums and are worth much more than their original cost!! We will be changing this display soon, so come see it while it is still here! We are open Friday and Saturday, 10 am until 2 pm!!!

Real County Historical Museum Minute: Here it is Friday again!! If you haven't stopped by the museum ever, then it's time you did! This month we made it through the July 4th weekend and the flood of all time!! This week's docents are Linda on Friday and Tracye on Saturday! July is also the month when the National Day of the Cowboy comes around. The photo represents 3 local cowboys. The front two ladies, Beth and Carolyn are the daughters of Real County cowboys, Ed Kellner and Buddy Pape. Along with Alton Kirkpatrick, the Grand Marshall. Note that all three are riding Palominos.

Real County Historical Museum Minute: Here it is Friday again!! If you haven't stopped by the museum ever, then it's time you did! Real County Historical Museum Minute: Wow, sorry for the delay, but it sure has been a couple of weeks around here! We prayed for rain, and we got it. The Museum will be open today, July 24th. Come by and see us!! Meanwhile, check out the photo from 1935 of the Frio at Davis Falls, below Fulgham's Crossing aka Alto Frio Crossing.

Real County Historical Museum - Minute!! A huge, gi-normus THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this happen!!! From the Real County Historical Museum Re-enactors to the wagon loaders, trailer fixers, trailer washers, float decorators, costume designers, deputy sheriffs, mess cleaner uppers, candy getters, research and photo finders, float drivers, secret service (lol almost), reporters, water providers, float tear-downers, parking people, photographers, speaker equipment people, imaginations, and probably many, many more. All the little things over the last months have made this happen, and a big thanks to each and everyone of you. Oh, and the Main Rival, Haden !! Even though the outside competition gets pretty stiff, I know that he will help out in any way possible. So thanks to Haden and the Leakey Inn and Back Porch for supporting the museum over the years, and also to Brett for always making us look good. I just hope that I have not left out any job that it took to make this happen.
