We’re developing a core group that is willing to meet more frequently and help organize committees (from community outreach, social media, event /meeting planning, information dissemination, to research, environmental, water systems, wastewater, legal, other organizations we can team with, etc). I know several of you have already been gathering info and working diligently in these areas and anyone is welcome to join in!

The plan is to meet this Thursday (6:30, Stuermer Store) to better organize these committees and establish needs and then have a Community Meeting next week (June 11) in Giddings if at all possible—working on a venue, as library is not available.

Some of you have already been doing some great research and we’d like to be able to share it with everyone! If you’re not available to stop by Thursday, please reach out.
We’d like to be able to have some of this info presented next week at the community meeting.

Opening at our regular 9am time this morning with a stocked bakery case, including klobásník and cinnamon rolls…was going to try and make the 8am “garage sale” times, but exhaustion is setting in so 9 it is!

Didn’t get near the items pulled out of storage I wanted for the community wide garage sale this weekend, but will get a few more things set out this morning in front of the store—plus we do have some larger items on the front porch of the house behind the store.

The Round Top area community wide garage sale continues on today!

We’re stop #17, open from 9-4.
Stop #16 is just one block away, and is open 8-1 today…

Missed the National Beef Day announcement earlier this week, but we have ya covered with local ranch-raised beef—pasture raised all day every day. Fresh eggs restocked as well.

A volunteer will be available at the store Friday from 11-3 to assist with submitting your public comments to TCEQ website

Christina will be at Stuermer Store in Ledbetter Friday, May 28, from 11-3 (& possibly later) to help you with submitting public comments to TCEQ.

Whether you would like to utilize a comment template we already have or if you know what you’d like to say and just need assistance submitting it, we’re here to help you!

We will also accept comments that you would like mailed or hand delivered to TCEQ.

*Your submissions to TCEQ are adding up—great job everyone! This morning the count was up to 42.

*Let’s see if we can get more requests for a Public Meeting as well…when you submit your comment, state you’re also requesting a public meeting. You can also submit a separate request for a public meeting.

Hoping to get an email sent out today—so keep a lookout for that as well.

Take a little roadtrip through the countryside this weekend (Friday & Saturday) and see how many Garage Sales you can make!

Yep, it’s that time—the 2nd annual “Community-Wide Garage Sale” that encompasses Round Top and surrounding communities…including Ledbetter!

There are so many places to start, whether you’re coming in on Highway 290 or from the South through LaGrange.

Ledbetter flanks the west with two stops, including Stuermer Store and another stop just a block away!

If you travel eastward you’ll catch multiple locations in Carmine and can continue along 290 towards Burton where the adventures continue. Between Ledbetter and Carmine be sure to dip down Round Top road for a sale, then back up to Carmine!

Then head south down Highway 237 for so many more stops—traveling through Round Top, Warrenton, and as far south as Rutersville.

Most locations open at 8–so we’ll be opening earlier than normal both Friday and Saturday

Stop by to see what all we’ve pulled from storage for the sale (weather dependent, we plan to have the porches packed).

We’ll also have maps printed, so grab a snack or savor a sandwich while you plan out your route!

Be sure to continue submitting public comments—you don’t have to live within the impacted zone nor the state, but simply be a concerned citizen regarding our rural communities, natural resources, and/or human health and food supply chain.

By no-means would we be considered tree-huggers, but each of us are called to be good stewards of our communities and beyond. 🤎

Thank you all for those that are reaching out to find out how you can support this movement. Please follow the linked page to stay abreast of all the news.

Also be sure to go to the TCEQ website as noted in the linked post below and submit your comments (we will also be sharing examples/templates of comments you can use). We need as many as possible!

There are numerous legal concerns and deficiencies with this wastewater permit.

We are organizing different committees to look at various aspects of this project and we need YOUR help…from putting together an email campaign and website, to researching different aspects (agricultural impacts, health, environmental, effluent levels, groundwater, impacts on flood zone, the regulation of Cummins Creek already in place, etc), reaching out to additional resources and local/state/federal agencies, door to door to reach those without online access, and so much more.

We are also working towards having templates available here at the store and around our local communities to make it as easy as possible for individuals to comment and make their voices heard. If you as an individual or business would like to assist or have comment templates available at your business, please let us know.
