If you are ever wondering why I stick like glue to the Museum....here are some of the reasons why! This little group gets together once a month and discusses the good, bad and ugly of the museum and works very hard to put our best foot forward.
Left to Right standing...Elvin, our Art Curator, Nicole, the Museum Curator, Francis, the H.S. Treasurer, Mrs. Bailey, Mote-Morris House Guru, Margaret Branhan, Librarian Extraordinaire, Glorianne, former Curator of both Museum/ Mote-Morris House/Leesburg Historian, Jim, President of the H. S. Society, Mr. Bailey, Mote-Morris House Guru and our Dr. Joe Branham...the walking encyclopedia of history.
Such a nifty and feisty group!

I'm going to throw something out here and see who bites. Do you honestly know if your family's history in Leesburg is recorded or stored anywhere other than in that long-forgotten box on the top shelf of a closet? Good question Lisa...I have no idea!
Well just don't sit there like a bump on a log...get busy and grab that box off the shelf and see what is in there...and consider donating it to the Leesburg Heritage Society Museum!
We do not have a ton of room for large displays, but we definitely would love to add to our file records of Leesburg Families, Businesses, Schools, Churches and other files. Family trees are most welcome too, especially if they show how your family got here and successive lineage.
Help us preserve the history of Leesburg! It was a very unique and special place to grow up!

Tuesday, December 3rd will be a very interesting and historical perspective of our very own Leesburg icon, Lone Oak Cemetery by none other than our own Glorianne Fahs with the help of Vi Pfahler.
Now if you haven't ever visited this cemetery, you should....oodles of history that you may not know about.
Show up at Roger's Park Pavilion just a hair before 3:30 Pm to get a good seat and then enjoy some tasty snacks that our good friends from Beyers Funeral Home have provided. The very nifty presentation will begin at 4:00 pm!

Found this little fun booklet at the museum. Definitely from the 30' but no designated date other than the 1930 census.

We need some help with this photo that Miss Francis brought in to the museum today. It's from the 1953 Leesburg Debutant Ball in 1953. The 2nd photo is a list of names she could match up with the photo. See who you can identify. This is also posted on Leesburg Memories.
