The Grayson Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution were the guest speakers at our March 7th General Meeting at Jack Thomas House. DAR members Rose Booth and Melinda Baum, who also serve as Historical Society board members, presented an excellent overview of the founding of both the national organization, as well as local chapter, which was formed in 2013.

They also discussed the various projects the local chapter has been involved in throughout our community. Some of the projects included the planting of two Liberty Trees in Leitchfield City Park and participating in the Wreaths Across America program at the Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff. Most recently they worked with the cities of Leitchfield and Clarkson to help purchase America 250 banners to be hung on telephone poles in each community later this spring.

Grayson Springs DAR Registrar Matilda Nelson then discussed how a lineage society works and how a woman can apply for membership with the DAR. She had five generation charts for people to take and fill out, and gave several examples of how to do family research in order to complete the charts.
