Throughout Appalachian history, people have relied on creativity, resourcefulness, and a strong tradition of sharing knowledge to adapt, create, and thrive. The Greenbrier Historical Society is celebrating that spirit through its new Appalachian Ingenuity Series, a free monthly workshop series taking place June through September at the North House Museum.

From traditional arts and crafts to hands-on workshops celebrating the creativity and resilience of Appalachian culture, this series offers something for all ages and experience levels. Best of all, it's FREE, and all materials are provided!

Join us as we explore the skills, stories, and ingenuity that have shaped our region for generations.

As we have worked to make this exhibit come to life, we’ve had the privilege of documenting the memories and stories of a number of brides from Greenbrier County. Their stories often featured the iconic Yarid’s Department Store, where many of the gowns of Greenbrier were purchased.

Now, we want to hear from all of you!
Do you have a memory or story from shopping at Yarid’s? Let us know in the comments!

Greenbrier Brides opens Friday, June 12th from 5-8, with an all-day exhibit celebration on Saturday, June 13th from 10-4, and runs through July 19th. Tickets are $10 per person for our Friday and Saturday events, and are available online or at the door.
