Hosted by renowned framing shop and gallery Kimball Street Studios in downtown Lewiston, INFINITE CANVAS is an upcoming exhibit of comics and fantasy illustration work that includes artist sketches, drafts, and final pieces. The show will be on display in September and serve as a fine arts complement to the inaugural Great Falls Comics Expo taking place in Lewiston the same month. Comics and illus
tration are more popular than ever in our increasingly visual culture. Both are open-source outlets, allowing anyone with an avid imagination and mark-making tool to share their dreams and fantasies visually. Creators from “outsider” and marginalized groups can share their perspectives with the world. Funny, fantastic, deranged, critical, subversive—modern comics and fantasy illustration provide insights into our ever-changing society. These creators capture and recreate our world and what it can be. The artists of INFINITE CANVAS present a range of work, from framed final pieces, to process pieces, to pages torn from the artists’ sketchbooks – all displayed like the unending canvases of online comics. Step into their worlds and be surprised by what you find. Artist talks, demos, and panel discussions will be included.
