Today's Valley Wednesday spotlight brings us to the Valley of Quincy (IL) where they were busy filming the 31st degree last week.

A massive thank you to all the Brothers who helped with this production of "My Brother's Keeper." We can't wait to see it in our upcoming season of Thursday Night at the Rite!

East coast production crew in Quincy to film dramatic presentation QUINCY–Most of what the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry does remains known only to its members. But recently, Quincy members drew back the curtain, or should we say let the Muddy River News cameras roll, if only for a few moments. It....

"It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it."

Those words hit differently when you know they came from a Brother. Oscar Wilde — born October on this day in 1854 — was initiated into Apollo University Lodge No. 357 in 1875.

251 years ago today, the Continental Congress established what would become the U.S. Navy.

Freemasonry has sailed alongside it from the start—shipboard lodges, chaplains, and Brothers who served side by side at sea. To every Navy veteran among us, thank you for your service.

Drop your years of service in the comments, or tag a Navy veteran in your Valley.

A child reading with confidence. A family that made it through a hard season. Your generosity made moments like these possible this year, and on Tuesday, December 1, you'll see it for yourself.

A Night of Charity returns this Giving Tuesday, hosted by comedian Tom Cotter. It's our night to celebrate a year of Brothers showing up for one another, and to meet the names, faces, and families your giving reached.

Join us in Lexington, tune in to the livestream, or gather with your Valley for a watch party.

Get the details and save the date at the link in the comments.

Michelle Collins and Lindsey Lewis-Stacy met in a waiting room in Columbus, Ohio, both there for the same reason: their sons were learning to read at a Children's Dyslexia Center (CDC).

The CDC's free, one-on-one instruction is made possible by Scottish Rite Brothers like you through the Blue Envelope Appeal. Michelle and Lindsey's sons went from struggling readers to thriving students. Now, one of those boys plans to come back to the CDC as a tutor to help other children.

As Lindsey put it: "Without the Masons, this wouldn't exist."

Your gift to the Blue Envelope Appeal supports the CDC and helps children with the gift of reading. In honor of National Dyslexia Month, make a contribution at the link in the comments.

“I remember the very first time I saw the 32nd Degree. I was blown away.” — Sovereign Grand Commander Walt Wheeler, 33°

That same feeling plays out in Valleys throughout Reunion season—a new Brother experiencing a degree for the first time, or a seasoned Brother returning to one that has stayed with him through the years.

If you haven’t made plans to attend a Reunion this fall, consider this your reminder to put one on the calendar.

Which degree has stayed with you—and why? Let us know in the comments and click the link to find a degree near you.

Whether it's your first Reunion or your fifteenth, the season starts the same way — with the anticipation of seeing old friends and making new memories.

Brothers who leave with new friendships and real momentum in their journey tend to do a few of the same things: bring their passport booklet, sit somewhere new, and take the time between degrees for deep conversation.

Our full guide is at the link in comments. What's your advice for making the most of Reunion season?

It could be a Scottish Rite Brother in need, a child learning to read, a student pursuing an education, or a family you may never meet. The charitable impact of our fraternity touches so many.

The Blue Envelope Appeal is how that impact is funded. One envelope, four programs: the Grand Almoner’s Fund, our Children’s Dyslexia Centers, the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library, and the Leon M. Abbott Scholarship.
