LexArts HOP The LexArts HOP, presented by VisitLEX, is a visual arts showcase occurring on the third Friday Admission is always free.

The LexArts HOP is arguably Lexington's most anticipated visual arts event. On the third Friday of every other month, nearly 50 sites open their doors, creating a visual arts journey for thousands of Lexington's residents and visitors. Request for Qualifications!

LexArts Inc. in association with Kroger, seeks an artist to create an indoor mural for a new Kroger grocery store.

Our goal is to select an experienced artist who will create artwork that will celebrate the spirit of the community and the unique identity of the neighborhood and its surroundings, to be installed at Kroger at 760 Newtown Springs Drive in July 2025. There is no application fee to enter.

Project Budget
The artist fee is $10,000, this is an all inclusive fee paid to the artist as work for hire. The artist fee will be paid half upon signing the contract and half upon project completion.

Three semi-finalists will be selected from the Request for Qualifications and paid $300 to deliver a site specific design for the mural. One artist will be selected to produce the mural.

Selection Process
The submitted qualifications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of Kroger representatives. The committee will identify three artists as semi-finalists, who will be contracted to produce a site specific design. One artist will be selected for the mural commission.

Deadline January 18th | Request for Qualifications!

LexArts Inc. in association with the City of Lexington (Council District 6), seeks an artist to work with students at Bryan Station High School, throughout the semester, to design and paint a public mural on substrate material that will be installed on the walls of a railroad underpass.

Our goal is to select an experienced artist who will supervise, and work with students to design and paint murals throughout the spring school semester, to be installed on the railroad underpass at Old Paris Road in June 2025. There is no application fee to enter.

Project Budget
Compensation will be provided to the selected artist(s) at $50/hr with an anticipation of up to $35,000 for participation in the project. This wage includes the artist(s)' time and effort for designing, painting, and working with students.

LexArts is pleased to announce that the application period for the 2026 grants cycle will open on January 3, 2025, and close on February 21, 2025. This annual grants program supports a wide range of artistic endeavors and cultural projects within the Lexington community.

To help art come to life and touch lives, LexArts supports regional artists and arts organizations through Community Arts Development (CAD) grants and General Operating Support (GOS) grants awarded on a competitive basis. CAD grants are specific to a program or project, while GOS grants help underwrite and sustain essential infrastructure like workspace, equipment, materials, salaries, and marketing. All grant applications will be reviewed in a public forum in the spring of each year.

Artists, organizations, and cultural practitioners are encouraged to apply for funding to support projects that enhance the cultural landscape of Lexington. The grants are designed to foster creativity, innovation, and community engagement through the arts.

Key Dates:
• Application Opening: January 3, 2025
• Application Deadline: February 21, 2025

LexArts and the Lexington Pride Center are proud to announce Choosing Home: Dispatches from Lexington, KY. Inspired by the creative ways that LGBTQ+ people define, envision, and choose family, our exhibition will document the complex, vibrant, and q***r homes we build and lives we live in Central Kentucky today. The show aims to celebrate Lexington’s rich LGBTQ+ histories by focusing on the triumphs, possibilities, and challenges of our q***r present.

Artists must be 18 years of age or older, may work in any medium, and claim a personal connection to both Lexington, KY (now or in the past) and an LGBTQ+ community (le***an, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, non-binary, aro/asexual, q***r, and more). We welcome emerging and established artists.

Join Mill & Max Contemplative Arts Gallery FRI night in Lex for warm cider & refreshments during LexArts Gallery HOP 4:30-8:30 & meet the Artists during our opening reception for "Pen, Brush, Stick", featuring local Artists Margie M. Rigney and Nancy Z. Hall.

Two local artists, fluent in a variety of media and styles, present paintings inspired by Kentucky’s natural riches. Often mixing mediums into individual pieces, Margie M. Rigney works in India ink, oil paints, pastels and acrylics. Since discovering her passion for pastels over 40 years ago, Nancy Z. Hall has refined her craft into a unique multi-layered method on sanded paper.

Piece descriptions and price sheets available upon request.

The exhibition will also feature select floral works by Ikebana master Brooke Pohl.

Located at the corner of Mill & Maxwell Streets, we have FREE PARKING and are only a 2-block walk to the heart of downtown and many other galleries.

Lexington’s 30-year visual arts event continues Friday, Nov 15. The LexArts HOP is made possible through the generous support of season sponsor VisitLEX.

Held on the third Friday of every other month, the LexArts HOP features nearly 50 participating venues, including local galleries, museums, artist studios, and supporting locations.

The LexArts HOP is a highly engaging opportunity to experience Lexington's unique and vibrant culture, support individual local artists and businesses, and enjoy our thriving downtown arts scene! Admission is always FREE and good times are guaranteed!

HOP official hours are between 5-8 PM; however, many of our sites, including local restaurants and shops, remain open throughout the evening.
