Susanne made this very unique nightlight. She found some curved glass in the free bins for students and thought that it resembled the petals of a flower. She then added another row of "petals" to really make it look like a flower. Very cool, congratulations Susanne!

Maine Art Glass associate, Nanette, created this gorgeous flamingo mosaic. The flamingo is raised higher than the background to make it stand out. The palm tree is created with fused glass. She then used different color grout for the background, flamingo, and the sand. The glass used for the sky and water are stunning. Congratulations Nanette!

This gorgeous mosaic was completed by mosaic student Carolyn. This is her very first piece and will have a wooden frame put on before hanging. She wasn't in love with the white grout in the sky, so mosaic teacher, Carrie Bracker suggested using blue acrylic paint over the grout lines for a more balanced look. This is a most impressive first piece, congratulations Carolyn!

Announcing a stained glass workshop taught by Emma Simard on May 12th from 4 to 8.
You will be able to create a geometric stained glass piece from start to finish with all materials included. You choose your pattern and colors from those available. The workshop is $150 and no experience is necessary.

Congratulations to Jim Nutting! He took first place at the Stained Glass Express "Just for fun Contest" in the cold glass category with his Golden Garden Spider.
If you know Jim, you know that if he enters the contest, he always submits a butterfly or insect of some sort. Besides the spider and goldenrod flower, this panel has a little something extra. To get the effect of the spiderweb, he sandblasted it on the background glass.
