Caleb Knodell will be leading a workshop on Painter’s Materials and Techniques over a weekend in early June.
This workshop will cover technical painting issues such as making your own paint from pigment, the properties of paint's structure and it's application, and creating various painting surface effects. It will also cover preparing a canvas, from stretching the linen to sizing it, and finally applying the ground. Students are encouraged to bring something for taking notes, as well as personal work or raw materials to apply/test some of the covered material.
Knodell’s extensive experience working with the painter Odd Nerdrum, renowned for his technical prowess in old world painting techniques, makes him an excellent resource for professional and developing painters alike.
He is also planning to teach a 6-week class on the Sight/Size technique which he learned while studying at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy. More information on this class will be coming shortly.
