Aviation dreams have to start somewhere.

The Sentimental Journey Association Pilot Training Scholarship in honor of aviatrix Leah Jones is now accepting applications for 2026 — but the deadline is May 31.

This $1,000 scholarship is open to Pennsylvania high school students age 15+ pursuing pilot training and a future in aviation.
Leah Jones helped deliver Piper aircraft built in Lock Haven to owners across the country. Today, her legacy continues by helping inspire the next generation of pilots.

This month in 1956, the first prototype Piper PA-24 Comanche took its first flight in Lock Haven, PA. The PA-24 Comanche featured a retractable landing gear, which was modern and sleek for its time! The aircraft was designed for pilots who used their aircraft for personal and business travel and desired more performance and comfort. Today, the Comanche is one of the most beloved Piper aircraft ever made. Share a picture of your favorite Comanche!
