Update on Mom, Teresa Day. We’ve made some recovery progress after a few hurdles since my last post.

Another surgery for a PEG drain separate from her PEGJ feed tube. So far it has helped tremendously with the vomiting. Still the pancreas is swelling the first part of her intestines and not letting regular bile down. However, the pancreatic cysts have begun to shrink, it’ll just take time.

She’s back off the vent, and on the capped trach. They will be working diligently to get rid of the trach completely.

Biggest news is we were approved for Select Specialties Long Term Acute Care in Danville. This brings her much closer to home so more of her family and friends can visit her. Visitation is from 8a-8p. Please message one of us kids for the room number and directions.

Still a long road to recovery to get that muscle built up so she can at least move around in the bed and maybe get into a chair. She’s been confined to a bed since November and finally getting anxious to get moving around! Here’s to hoping her stomach and intestines cooperate with PT and it only goes up from here.

Update on Teresa Day.

She is still on daily dialysis, however she has started to produce small amounts of urine the past two days. This is a big relief on the renal failure issue.

As of today she’s been on the vent for 23 days, but continues to fail breathing tests. Usually around 14 days on a vent they start to discuss a tracheostomy. Her lungs had improved slightly and was really close to extubation, but never quite got over the hump. She failed one extubation and had to be reintubated. Her body is just fighting too many battles all at once. I’ve conferred with a few friends and doctors about it, and they all agree that it is probably better for her to get a trach. Less risk for pneumonia and easier on the body/lungs. Maybe it will help her recover quicker, and is most likely reversible.

Her pancreatitis is walling off like it should. It still isn’t to the point of being surgical, but there will be surgery down the road. It is still assumed she lost approximately 75% of her pancreas.

She had a belly scope and internal ultrasound. Everything looks as expected. They were able to place a feeding tube into her small intestines (past stomach) during the scope, so no traumatic surgery needed for it. She started the slow feeds today and will work up to the necessary amount.

Almost a month in, yet we have a long way to go. She is being strong, and often rolls her eyes at the nurses in jest. Her fluid level is much better, enough to where she can move around her arms and use her hands to write. So we’ve been able to communicate a little when she’s awake.

Keep those prayers and loving thoughts coming please. We appreciate each and every one.

Dear Art By Day Followers,

We hope this post finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that we share some challenging news about our beloved artist, Teresa. She has fallen critically ill, and her family is rallying around her with unwavering love and support during this difficult time.

In times of joy and celebration, London's own Teresa Day has been the artist behind the vivid murals that breathe life into our city, the creative mind adorning our office buildings and local businesses, and the magic-maker crafting enchanting Christmas window scenes. Beyond her artistic prowess, Teresa has also been a pillar of support as a dedicated home health nurse, selflessly caring for our community for many years.

In order to continue Teresa's passion for art and keep the creative spirit alive, her family has taken on the responsibility of managing the Art By Day page and the sale of her beautiful handmade gifts. They are committed to preserving the essence of Teresa's work and maintaining the artistic community that has grown around her art.
