The act of compassion heals wounds, strengthens bonds, and carries us through dark times. It is in this spirit that Greenly Art Space announces its newest show: Cultivating Compassion. Drawing from founder Kimberly Hocking's own experiences with care and empathy at a monastery, this exhibition invites artists of all kinds to share their own experiences and visions of compassion.

Submitted artwork can be either new or old, and all mediums are welcome. The submission deadline is on March 28th. Some of the funds raised by this exhibition will go to support charities that demonstrate the compassion this world sorely needs. We are excited to be highlighting the work of Charter for Compassion,.

Cultivating Compassion opens on April 18th at Greenly Art Space in San Pedro. Please see the open call on Greenly's website Greenlyartspace.org for more details.

Kimberly Hocking is the founder and director of Greenly Art space, and the woman who's guided the gallery for fourteen years. Now, she's sharing her own vision in "Hope and Bone: An Apothecary of small acts", her first ever solo show at Greenly. The opening reception will be on July 27th, from 6-9pm. After that, it will be shown by appointment only. You are cordially invited to see Hocking's personal visions.

Calling all artists and patrons. Help us support the arts and the Open Gallery, Long Beach where owners Artos and Liz recently lost their home and gallery. This gallery was a place where artists could display and celebrate their work. Sadly, it was destroyed by the recklessness of two drunk drivers.

But we can help! The art community of Long Beach is coming together with a fundraiser. We're inviting artists from all around the area to donate their work, which will be sold to help Artos, Liz, and their son. We hope you'll join us in this moment of solidarity.

The fundraiser will be held on April 27th (4-9pm) and April 28th (2-6pm) at the Gladys Coop Art Studio at 1330 Gladys Ave., Long Beach, CA. For information on how to submit art, please send an email to [email protected].

Greenly Art Space is once again getting ready for its annual fundraiser, scheduled for December 2nd. This years is titled "Strength/Struggle", and it explores the way in which art reflects the challenges experienced by the artist. As the painter Grace Hartigan said, "A work of art is the trace of a magnificent struggle." As before, we are inviting artists to submit their own work for this fundraiser. The deadline for the submission is November 1st, and up to five images can be sent for consideration. Please see the Greenly website for more details.

A portion of the funds will go toward supporting individuals affected by the Lahaina wildfires.
