Attention: The top portion of a sundial has gone missing from the garden at Historic Hoverhome. The base remains in place, but the sundial itself has been removed. At this time, we are unsure when it was taken. The sundial was a longstanding piece of Hover history that had remained in place for 100+ years. We realize this may be a long shot, but if anyone comes across the sundial, sees it offered for sale, or recognizes it from the photo below, please contact our office at (303) 776-1870 or [email protected]. No questions will be asked if the sundial is returned to Historic Hoverhome—we would just be grateful to have it back.

Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Strawberry Festival! 🍓 We are so grateful to our wonderful dealers, our incredible volunteers, and everyone who came out to support the event. Your enthusiasm and support made the festival a huge success! A special thank you to Longmont Dairy and Georgia Boys BBQ - Longmont for generously donating the whipping cream and BBQ sauce for our café — we truly appreciate your support.
Every strawberry shortcake enjoyed and every bit of support helps further our mission of historic preservation. Thank you for helping us preserve and celebrate history in our community! We can’t wait to see you again at Pumpkin Pie Days on October 10–11, 2026 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds! 🥧

Today in Longmont history 🏛️

Longmont was founded in 1871 by the Chicago-Colorado Colony. At the same time, a nearby settlement called Burlington (founded in 1860) was physically moved and absorbed into the new townsite, including entire buildings. On January 7, 1873, the town was officially incorporated and named Longmont.

Today marks: 153 years since Longmont became an incorporated town in 1873--just two years after Longmont was founded 1871.

From relocated buildings to a fully incorporated city, Longmont didn’t just grow, it literally picked itself up and moved forward 💙
