Thank you for a successful Pioneer Days 2026!

We’ve just wrapped up another incredible year of Pioneer Days, where 990 students from 23 different schools had the opportunity to explore Old Mill Park and experience what life was like for pioneers in the St. Vrain Valley. This year’s program was a wonderful success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of so many dedicated individuals.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who helped bring history to life: Andrea Linn, Arianne Noble, Brenda Crowe, Connie Ryle Neumann, Debbie Collins, Haley Deese, Dori Mapstone, Joanne Liss, Keith Appling, Kelly Strong, Larissa Linn, Rachel Van Sambeek, and Rebecca Weihe. Your time, enthusiasm, and commitment made a lasting impression on every student who attended.

We would like to give a special shout-out to our Program Coordinator, Haley Deese, who dedicated countless days of preparation before the program even began. Her leadership and behind-the-scenes efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We are also incredibly grateful to Rebecca Weihe for stepping in as Assistant Program Coordinator.

Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to The Braly Family Foundation for their generous grant support. Because of their continued commitment, we were able to keep Pioneer Days free and accessible for local schools, helping us reach students across our community.

We are so grateful to everyone who made Pioneer Days 2026 such a meaningful experience, and we look forward to continuing to inspire future generations through the rich history of our community.

❤️

Today in Longmont history 🏛️

Longmont was founded in 1871 by the Chicago-Colorado Colony. At the same time, a nearby settlement called Burlington (founded in 1860) was physically moved and absorbed into the new townsite, including entire buildings. On January 7, 1873, the town was officially incorporated and named Longmont.

Today marks: 153 years since Longmont became an incorporated town in 1873--just two years after Longmont was founded 1871.

From relocated buildings to a fully incorporated city, Longmont didn’t just grow, it literally picked itself up and moved forward 💙
