Happy Haitian Heritage Month,

The amazing documentary W.E.B. Du Bois: Rebel With A Cause is screening daily at the Laemmle Monica Film Center in Santa Monica at 1:10 PM, 4:10 PM, and 7:10 PM through Thursday, May 14. W.E.B. Du Bois is one of my historical heroes. His grandfather and father were Haitian. He was the first Black man to receive a PhD from Harvard in 1895. He is also considered the Father of Sociology, though he is often not given proper credit for his groundbreaking contributions. In addition, he was a leader in establishing the first Pan-African Congress in London in 1900.
The film will also premiere on PBS on May 19, 2026.

Be sure to watch this amazing documentary by award-winning filmmaker Rita Coburn and Executive Producer Sandra Evers- Manley, a pivotal leader in the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center and Black film festivals in Los Angeles.

Happy Women’s Month,

In the heart of Boston, a city known for its intellectual and cultural legacy, a powerful moment of storytelling and connection unfolded.

The founder of the Haiti International Film Festival, Jacquil Constant, had the honor of visiting the Toussaint Louverture Cultural Center for a special book signing with acclaimed Haitian author Kettly Mars, celebrating her profound work, I Am Alive. Special thanks to OLLI Institute at the University of Massachusetts Professor Charlot Lucien—artist, cultural leader, and founder of the Haitian Artists Assembly of Massachusetts—for opening the door to this meaningful gathering.

Inside the space, Haitian voices filled the room. Questions flowed in Haitian Creole. Stories were shared. Books were not just purchased—they were embraced as living testimonies of survival, memory, and truth.

Surrounded by the visual language of Haitian art, the experience became more than an event—it became a reminder. A reminder that our culture does not fade. It evolves, it travels, it thrives.
At the Haitians at Harvard Conference, another voice of strength emerged—Haitian writer Monique Clesca. Through her memoir, Silence and Resistance: Memoir of a Girlhood in Haiti, she offers a deeply personal reflection on girlhood, survival, and the enduring impact of the January 12, 2010 earthquake.

These works are not just books.
They are archives of resilience.
They are blueprints of courage.

They are the voices of Haitian women—unshaken, unbroken, and unforgettable.
Through connection, we build.

Through culture, we uplift.
Through storytelling, we transform.

Hello, Haitian Bricolage Gallery Family,

The founder of the Haiti Bricolage Gallery, Jacquil Constant, had an incredible experience attending the Haitians at Harvard Conference. He was deeply inspired by the opportunity to connect with Haitian professionals across tech, education, entrepreneurship, and government—each committed to building a stronger ecosystem for innovation in Haiti and throughout the Haitian diaspora.

A heartfelt thank you to Marc Alain Boucicault and the entire organizing team for curating such a powerful gathering, impacting over 400 attendees both in person and online.

One of the highlights of the conference was viewing the phenomenal documentary Massacre Heroes by Samuel Dameus—a moving story of Haitians coming together to build a canal and empower farmers toward self-sufficiency. It stands as a powerful testament to collective resilience and vision.

We are energized and look forward to collaborating and co-creating with the many meaningful connections made during this experience.

Through connection, we build.
Through culture, we uplift.
Through storytelling, we transform.

Happy Birthday, Mom,

I remember this special day—the last time we spent together at Brooklyn College, watching Arnold Antonin’s film through Haiti Cultural Exchange. It was such a beautiful experience to see you in your element, reflecting on your life as a younger woman.

I love you always, Mom. Heaven gained an angel, but I carry you with me every day. It meant so much to screen my award-winning film last week at Brooklyn College, walking those same grounds with your spirit beside me.

Love always,
Papa Jacko ❤️

Happy Black History Month.

The founder of the Haiti Bricolage Gallery, Jacquil Constant, is deeply honored to bring my award-winning documentary, Haiti Is A Nation of Artists, to Brooklyn College.

Returning to his home state—Brooklyn, New York—feels full circle. To screen a film that reclaims and reshapes the narrative of Haiti through art, resilience, and cultural brilliance during Black History Month is profoundly meaningful.

My sincere gratitude to Dr. Lily Cerat, Executive Director of the Haitian Studies Institute and Assistant Professor in the African Studies Department at CUNY, for this invitation and for creating space where Haitian stories are studied, honored, and elevated.

I look forward to an intimate and powerful dialogue with the Haitian-American Students Association—a new generation engaging legacy, identity, and artistic vision.

Haiti is more than headlines.
Haiti is more than history.
Haiti is a nation of artists.

Hello, Haitian Bricolage Gallery Family,

It was an amazing experience watching the talented Haitian star Jimmy Jean-Louis in his new feature film, Au Revoir, at the 34th Annual Pan African Film Festival. He spoke three languages in the film—French, Spanish, and English—so effortlessly.

Be sure to watch this masterpiece of independent cinema on Amazon Prime. The director, Rony Castillo, of Dominican and Haitian descent, did an excellent job showcasing the humanity and complexity of Dominican and Haitian culture in this powerful story about two men grieving the woman they both loved.
Cinema lovers, don’t miss this film on Amazon Prime.

Haitians at PAFF.

Hello, Haitian Bricolage Gallery Family,

The founder of the Haitian Bricolage Gallery, Jacquil Constant, had an amazing experience at the Haitian Spotlight LA Awards a couple of weeks ago! Thank you to the co-founders, Martine Harris and Richardson Chery, for organizing this excellent event for the Los Angeles Haitian community and beyond. It was truly inspiring to hear the stories of so many changemakers from the Haitian Diaspora who are making a real impact in our diverse communities.

One of my favorite quotes of the night came from the Excellence in Culinary Innovation Award recipient, Chef Nadege Fleurimond, who shared that Haitians make a tremendous impact in their communities with so little given.

It was also wonderful catching up with Sloan Baptiste, Stan Lathan, and Janae Desire for a night of celebration and Haitian community upliftment.

Hello, Haitian Bricolage Gallery Family,

The founder of the Haitian Bricolage Gallery, Jacquil Constant, had an amazing experience meeting Wyclef Jean during a fireside chat at Soho in West Hollywood. As a Haitian American, Wyclef has long been an idol of mine, and it was inspiring to witness a successful artist who has translated his music into the mainstream while remaining deeply connected to his roots.

Thank you to the co-founders of Haitian Spotlight LA, Martine Harris and Richardson Chery, for the invitation. It was powerful to learn about Wyclef’s evolution as a rapper, producer, composer, tech entrepreneur, and philanthropist.

He is truly one of the artists who lives up to his legacy and allure.
