Gilding on wood and metal, Painted distressed finishes, Old World training and experience, A touch of elegance linked with modern lines, Hand crafted for today’s fine furniture connoisseur. The Art of gilding has been a generational tradition that started in Poland pre World War II where Henryk Koterba owned a framing business and art gallery called Salon Koterby in the heart of Warsaw. Post WWII

the city was flattened and along with it the gallery. Henryk continued making frames and restoring furniture at a studio, where his son Edward Koterba started to learn the skills of the trade, working in tandem with his father on various projects. Edward Koterba took his skills and left for Paris, escaping the oppressive communist regime to start anew. In Paris he lived and worked for a year before carrying onto New York City. There he found work at Loews, before heading west to Los Angeles. Once in LA, he had worked on restoration projects, such as a triptych at the Getty Museum along with other framing companies before finally striking out on his own in the early 80’s. Soon Edward started working in collaboration with interior designers, and has continued this tradition passing on his knowledge and skills.
