Every petal has its moment 💐

Katharina Husslein’s floral paintings combine the elegance of historic still lifes with a vivid, contemporary palette. Carefully layered blooms, graceful stems, and saturated color give this bouquet a remarkable sense of depth, presence, and life.

Introducing Rachel Taggart

Rachel Taggart is a Canadian contemporary artist whose paintings explore light, color, transparency, and depth through layered acrylic compositions. Working with diluted acrylic on raw canvas, she creates abstract works that balance openness and structure, allowing color, line, and form to develop through a refined sense of movement and restraint.

Originally trained in Biology and Education, Taggart began painting in 2001 after years of creative exploration through sewing, stained glass, building projects, and other hands-on practices. Her background informs an intuitive approach to painting, where observation, experimentation, and material sensitivity shape a practice that moves across several distinct bodies of work. Her paintings include both landscape and abstraction, with each series reflecting a different aspect of her artistic language.

New exhibition alert: On Figure and Setting 🎨

This group exhibition brings together artists who explore how a figure is shaped by the world around it. Setting becomes more than background. It sets the mood, holds memory, creates tension, and changes the way a subject is seen.

Featuring works by Erin Hammond, Ekaterina Ermilkina, Valerie Etitinwo, Tommy Lennartsson, and Melanie Tiongson, the exhibition looks at the relationship between figure, atmosphere, and surrounding space. From interiors and city streets to imagined scenes and layered memories, each artist shows how context can deepen presence and shift perception.

Now on view at Artspace Warehouse.

New Susan Gale arrivals, fresh out of the crate.

Our art handler Frank unpacked three new city scenes by Susan Gale, each filled with textured pointillism, glowing color, and the familiar rhythm of everyday streets. Her paintings turn sidewalks, traffic, storefronts, and passing figures into something more emotional and cinematic.

“As If It Were Real,” “Coming True,” and “Live Through You” are each original acrylic paintings. Small in scale, rich in texture, and full of city light.

Get a closer look at "Breath of Flowers" by Vé Boisvert

This artwork beautifully catches the light through her artfully placed textures and iridescent accents. The mix of negative space and dancing brush strokes makes this painting an absolute dreamy delight.

We asked Valerie to choose some of her favorite artworks to arrive last month. Here is what she chose and why.

"I keep coming back to this mix of clean geometry and loose, spontaneous details that emphasize the artist's hand. Crisp shapes give the eye something to hold onto, then the color takes over with those little unexpected moments that make a piece feel alive. The palettes are doing a lot too: soft neutrals and airy blues, hits of lavender and warm sand, plus a few bolder notes that pull everything into focus."

Featuring artworks by Ricky Hunt, Krista Reuter, Jason DeMeo, Shiri Phillips, Denna Erickson, and Amber Goldhammer

If you’re local, stop in soon and see them in person. If you’re not, message us and we’ll send photos and details.
