Why is art archiving worthy work? The value of small-scale art archives, unlike a bottle of wine, is not always simply captured in a number. What makes our work as archivists worthy of support is the efforts we put toward protecting and preserving what makes life meaningful. Like wine's place at the holiday dinner table, art archives aim to strengthen the bonds that bring and keep people together, enriching life in the process.

Worthy Wine Works is a limited edition natural wine fundraiser. Twelve artists— Cauleen Smith, Mario Ayala, Rodrigo Valenzuela, Kang Seung Lee, Marisa Takal, Heilbron, Zoel Cusmus Laffa, Lauren Quinn, Lauren Satlowski, Cassi Namoda, Nick Sethi, and Dave Muller—designed wine labels for LACA, paired with twelve unique natural wines, all produced in Central California.

This collaborative project between the archive, the artists, and the vintner inspires us to create connections between small edition books, art ephemera, and small batch natural wines.

With a purchase of single or multiple limited edition natural wines, you support future LACA programming and new collections in 2022.

opacity (n.)
BY
ART PAPERS

"One of the enduring contributions of Martinican philosopher and poet Édouard Glissant was his insistence on a “right to opacity for everyone.” In formulating opacity as a response to the Western, imperialist demand to know and understand the Other, Glissant designated opacity as a resource for navigating the optics of discovery, exposure, and enlightenment."

opacity (n.) Text / Christopher Joseph Lee Share: 1. Opacity describes a lack of transparency and translucence; or somewhat more figuratively, a lack of intelligibility or knowability. Opacity is a state, medium, or space through which light cannot pass. A white wall is opaque, as is a mirror, as is...
