yesterday was my birthday!šŸŽˆšŸŽ‚and this was me last Saturday in the midst of the most perfect pre-celebration in one of my favorite places in LA.šŸŽ„everything since has been lowkey & sweet & thoughtful & full of so many of my most favorite things + humans AND the sky gave me the most beautiful sunset gift last nightšŸŒ„šŸ‘½thank you sweet friends and family who checked in ILYā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

the thing that has made me happiest this year has been going to the theater for operas, musicals, plays, and countless music performances. contrary to my previous years in LA, this year found me desiring to shrink and experience more than i output or share with others. my therapist tells me it’s a healthy escape, and i can not express enough how much it’s helped me get through! i thought why not make a list of every show i’ve seen since my birthday last year, and omg it’s 113! (slides 6 - 11) (i’ve also done 71 Lagree classes since July but that’s another new adventure)

i just love experiencing wonder and whimsy with friends, then talking about it all on the drives home!!! even if i dislike a show, i ALWAYS learn something new, or gain a new perspective. i believe it’s very important that we as humans make an effort to do these things more - to get outside of our own lives, our own selves. i think it helps with empathy and understanding. it’s also incredible to see the teamwork that it takes to make these shows happen and come to life! i find these logistics equally exciting and wondrous. one day i will be a part of one of these teams, and i’m so grateful to the couple artists who let me join them this year and try something new. you opened my eyes to new and improved ways of operating and being!

my birthday wish is that you’ll come see a show with me this year! tell me what you like - i will find something perfect we can experience TOGETHER. i’m kinda an expert at finding things and the best tickets iykyk, and i’d love to learn something new with you my friends. my other wish is that i spend more time back in nature on this next lap. thank you friends who taught me how to camp this year! love you and seriously text me and let’s make some nature or theater plans!!!!šŸŽ‚šŸ‘½ā£ļøšŸŽŸļøšŸŒ„

SUNDAY! November 23rd at 3PM please join us for a new iteration of , with musician Sebastian Lee and his cello. Hi! It’s been awhile and I hope everyone is hanging in there! While I don’t plan to return to art dealing, I deeply value the community and creativity that the gallery nurtured — and I’m grateful to see many artists still benefiting from that work.

Running the gallery taught me something important: my strengths are not in sales, but in building spaces for connection, dialogue, and cultural experience. Accepting that has been a journey, but also a relief.

These days, my greatest joy comes from theater and live art — forms that can’t be owned, but only experienced when we come together. They remind me how much we need to gather, to feel, to witness culture side by side. I’ll be sharing more of what I see in hopes of encouraging others to explore it too. šŸŽā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

And as for my day job, I’m now an Owner’s Representative and have become quite good at producing other people’s projects. If you need a do-er in your future, don’t hesitate to reach out - my umbrellas of ā€œartā€ & ā€œproductionā€ are vast and far reaching. šŸ‘·ā€ā™€ļøāœØ

I know theater tickets can be expensive, but I’ve learned lots of tricks for finding affordable seats. If you’re curious, send me a message — I’d love to share with you. Accessibility is the only thing that will keep these art forms alive, and this matters deeply to me.

Just wanted to reintroduce myself to this internet land after a bit of a break :) I love Los Angeles (particularly Los Feliz) soooo much and I hope to see you around the neighborhood, or catch some live theater/art with you soon! My ā€œprojectsā€ have shifted, but my heart remains authentically and enthusiastically the same.🧔

Did you know that one of the main hubs of Surrealism in this country was built (& still stands) in Sedona, Arizona?! Very grateful for this tour of Capricorn Hill thanks to & the exuberant plus wildly knowledgeable Mark of ! In 1946 Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning left NYC and set off for Sedona, where they built their home, studios, and of course, created many works of art now viewable in museums across the world, and they lived here until 1959.Ā  This visit reminded me of why I fell in love with artists in the first place. True artists are INNOVATIVE and gritty! To see documentation of how this couple built everything from the ground up was incredibly inspiring. They had no money when they got to Sedona, yet created wonder and beauty out of literal nothing! In 1947, Max built a well further up the hill to collect water and laid a pipe system into the house. This well was only recently discovered, and I was lucky enough to climb into it!Ā Also on top of this hill is where the famous ā€˜Capricorn’ sculptureĀ was first constructed, not as a ploy to make several bronze editions for the art market, but rather out of play and excitementĀ generated from completingĀ the well! From Dorothea Tanning herself, ā€œIn the summer of 1947, Max Ernst, exuberant and inspired by the arrival of water piped to our house (up to then we had hauled it from a well five miles away), began playing with cement and scrap iron with assists from box tops, eggshells, car springs, milk cartons and other detritus.Ā  The result:Ā Ā Capricorn, a monumental sculpture of regal but benign deities that consecrated our ā€˜garden’ and watched over its inhabitants.ā€ And while this concrete and scrap iron version - quite possibly a family portrait of the couple and theirĀ dog - watched over their home, it wasn’t until 1964 that it was cast in bronze and introduced to the market, when Max returned to Sedona to make molds ten years after moving to Paris. Probably after some gallery decided they could make money off of it. šŸ™ƒGrateful for this epic afternoon that still has me buzzing. You can visit too!

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, June 8th at 5:55pm please join us for another , this time a unique vertical climb and induction led by Marcos Lutyens! Participants are asked to meet at the bear statue at the entrance of Griffith Park where Fern Dell Drive and Los Feliz Boulevard intersect - please park and gather here by 5:55pm. Words will be offered to commence the journey followed by an ascent to the Berlin Forest at the mountain’s summit. Along the way participants will be asked to assist in carrying the objects for the performance, culminating in the creation of a collaborative artwork with on the other side as the sun sets at 8:03pm. Upon completion, we will retrace our steps and descend the mountain together as a changed community.

Please bring a blanket or yoga mat for maximum comfort during the induction.

For those who are not able to join in the trek up the mountain, please join us in the Berlin Forest via Observatory Parking Lot where parking is readily available at 7PM.

We learn from surrealist writer RenĆ© Daumal’s Mount Analog that ā€˜The Gateway to the Invisible must be Visible’, and for this performance, we will seek that gateway together. A Peradam is an object that is revealed only to those who seek it, and we encourage all participants to arrive with both curious and open minds.

Marcos Lutyens employs his artistic practice to engage with the mental and emotional well-being of his audience, skillfully guiding participants through hypnotic exercises that reach the profound depths of their psyche. His creative expressions manifest in various forms such as installations, sculptures, drawings, short films, writings, and performances.
In his quest to explore consciousness, Lutyens has collaborated with renowned neuroscientists V. Ramachandran and Richard Cytowic, alongside studying under shamans from diverse cultures. Drawing insights from these collaborations and research endeavors, he has applied his understanding to interact with the unconscious states of visitors in museums, galleries, and biennales across the globe.
