It is with great pride and reverence that we share highlights of the Laband ‘s 1987 David Hockney’s solo show “Portrait Drawings 1966-1984” curated by our founding director Ellen Ekedal (1942 – 2024). This exhibition included more than 70 superlative works on paper depicting the artist’s close circle of friends and family and executed in crayon, ink, charcoal, and pencil. The accompanying catalog “Faces 1966-1984”—designed and authored by Hockney himself—transformed the artist’s artworks through the experimental use of an office photocopier.
